Netiquette which is short for internet etiquette referring to the guidelines and norms for polite and respectful behaviour online is the social code of the internet with the definition of network and tag. It encompasses practices like using proper grammar and punctuation, being mindful of tone in written communication, respecting others' privacy, and avoiding offensive language or behaviour. Internet etiquette today is part of social norms, customs and culture. The internet has its own culture and its rules are represented by cultural norms for network etiquette, status updates, email messages, privacy settings, and lists. The basic rules of internet etiquette are rules applied daily on the internet and created to communicate effectively with each other.
The golden rule of internet etiquette: Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. It represents the spirit of being civilized - netiquette.

2. Do not get into social network discussions!
3. Be polite - kindness is great!
